KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Virat Kohli scored 54 runs from 37 balls against KKR on Wednesday (April 26).
- During his stay at the crease, he hammered six fours.
- Venkatesh Iyer completed a sensational catch near the boundary ropes to bring an end to his innings.
During his stay at the crease, the 34-year-old batter, who left the RCB captaincy in 2021 but is doing it again for the past three matches because Faf du Plessis is not fully fit, hammered six fours. He was the fifth RCB batter to get out on a day when in-form batters like Faf (17) and Glenn Maxwell (2) failed to fire. Du Plessis is leading the Orange Cap race, but on Wednesday, he failed to add another half-century to his name.
It was a sensational effort by Venkatesh on the field, and Virat couldn’t believe his eyes that he was caught near the ropes. His shocked reaction after the KKR all-rounder completed his catch is now going viral on social media platforms.
Here’s the video of Kohli’s reaction after Venkatesh Iyer completed his catch:
After Virat’s departure, none of the other RCB batters managed to keep them in the game, and they went down by 21 runs to suffer their fourth defeat in eight matches of the IPL 2023 and their second straight one against KKR in the ongoing season of the cash-rich league. They remain static at the fifth position in the IPL 2023 points table, but by ending a losing run of four matches and securing two points, KKR managed to leapfrog five-time winners Mumbai Indians and climb to the No. 7 position in the league table.
