LAST TIME OUT VS WARWICKSHIRE
Surrey emphatically beat Warwickshire by 6 wickets at The Kia Oval last July.
After being called in at the eleventh hour due to injury to Dan Worrall, Conor McKerr took three wickets as Warwickshire were bowled out for 253 on the first day.
In response, Surrey scored 316 with contributions from Ollie Pope (65), Will Jacks (44), Conor McKerr (37) and Jamie Overton (38).
Surrey made early in roads with the ball. However, Alex Davies (49), Chris Benjamin (38), Sam Hain (96) and Will Rhodes (74) offered stiff resistance as Surrey struggled to take wickets in the afternoon and evening session of the third day. With all results still possible on the final day, Kemar Roach bowled one of the spells of the season, taking four wickets as the Bears slumped from 280/5 to 310 all out, setting Surrey a target of 248 to win with a little over two sessions to be played.
Skipper Rory Burns scored 61 to get Surrey off to a flying start before Hashim Amla’s 80 not out helped Surrey towards their target. Amla was well supported by Ollie Pope (52) before Will Jacks smashed three sixes to score 18 not out from six deliveries to take Surrey over the line with six wickets in hand.
