And not just Nita, but the captains of both teams—Rohit and Sam Curran—were also surprised by the maximum, and their reactions also went viral.
As far as the match was concerned, playing in the absence of their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan, PBKS rode on stand-in captain Sam Curran’s 29-ball 55 and Harpreet Singh Bhatia’s 41 from 28 balls to post a total of 214 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets. And in reply, MI could only manage to reach 201 for the loss of six wickets.
For the hosts, Rs 17.50 crore signee Cameron Green top-scored by making 67 runs from 43 balls, and apart from him, world’s No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav contributed 57 runs from 26 balls, and skipper Rohit hammered 44 runs from 27 deliveries. The trio’s contribution took MI closer to the target, but in the end, it didn’t prove to be enough.
