Mumbai Indians Struggling With Team Combinations
Talking to Sportskeeda, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has spoken about Mumbai’s playoffs chances. Since winning their fifth IPL title in 2020, the side has not made the playoffs. They finished last in IPL 2022 with four wins and as many as 10 losses.
“Yes. When they lost their first two matches, it looked like they are struggling with the team combinations, but they have made a good comeback. Their batters have been performing well. Their bowling unit features too many new bowlers. I don’t think Rohit Sharma would be happy with IPL Auction. But he has to manage with the players he has now” Kaif said to Sportskeeda.

Mohammad Kaif Dissects The Weak Mumbai Indians Bowling Attack
Kaif also spoke about Mumbai’s weak bowling attack with no reputed Indian seamer in the squad. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah has hurt the franchise and Jofra Archer has not been his usual self so far. He went for 42 in the game against PBKS picking just one wicket.
“Some of their players like Cameron Green are playing their first IPL season. A few of them have played three or four matches. Their most experienced bowler is Piyush Chawla, who remained unsold last season” said Kaif.
The league is closing in on the halfway mark with almost all teams having played seven games. RR are topping the points table closing in on the first half. However, the table is still wide open for the top six teams with movement expected on the points table in the second half of the season well.
Mumbai Indians still have eight matches left in the league round. Their next match is against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, April 25. It will be the seventh match for both teams.
