Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, as well as the Adani Group and Capri Global, have won bids to own the five women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) teams.

In what has sparked massive excitement among cricket lovers, the owners of men’s Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Adani Group and Capri Global won the bids to buy the five Women’s IPL teams ahead of the inaugural season, which will be played in March 2023.
The teams will be headquartered in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow, respectively, and the competition will be called the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
The auction, which took place in Mumbai earlier today and in which the winners were announced after opening sealed bids, brought in a record amount of money for the BCCI of INR 466.99 crore (USD 572.78 million approx).
The price paid for the Ahmedabad team was the highest at INR 1289 crore (approximately USD 158 million).
Mumbai was next with INR 912.99 crore (approximately USD 111 million), Bengaluru with INR 901 crore (approximately USD 110 million), Delhi with INR 810 crore (approximately USD 99.35 million), and Lucknow with INR 757 crore (approximately USD 92.85 million).
